The wholesale portal
Serat's wholesale portal: per-seller storefronts, catalogue projection from the retail system, client-specific pricing, size-run carts and invite-only access.
The wholesale portal is where your own clients place orders themselves. It is a separate storefront with separate logins, because the people using it work for other companies, and it should never expose your retail back office.
One storefront per seller
Each seller has its own storefront with its own address, identified by a storefrontSlug. Clients see one brand's catalogue at a time, at the prices that apply to them, without any indication of what other sellers on the platform charge.
Where the catalogue comes from
The portal does not hold a second product database. It receives a projection of the catalogue you already maintain in the retail system, so a colourway added once appears in both places. Styles are grouped by colourway, which is how wholesale buyers actually shop.
Ordering by size run
Wholesale buyers do not add single units to a cart. They order a run: two of 38, four of 40, four of 42. The cart is built around that reality, so a buyer fills a grid instead of repeating an add-to-cart action twenty times.
Access is granted, not requested
There is no open registration. A client is invited, sets their own password from that invitation, and is then linked to the seller that invited them. Each link can block specific brands, so a client who is not allowed to buy a particular label simply does not see it.
The seller sends an invitation to the client contact.
The client sets a password and signs in.
The link between client and seller defines pricing, discounts and any blocked brands.
The client orders from the catalogue that link allows.
Pricing and discounts
Prices start from the wholesale price on each variant and are adjusted by the discounts attached to the client link. What a buyer sees in the portal is what their order will be confirmed at.
Messaging
Conversations happen next to the order rather than in an email thread nobody else can see. Messages are delivered live, so a question about an order does not require a phone call to notice.
One seller per order
An order belongs to exactly one seller. Mixed-seller baskets are not allowed, because a shipment, an invoice and a confirmation all belong to one supplier in practice. A buyer working with several suppliers places several orders.
How it stays in sync
Catalogue and order changes can take time to appear across the portal and the retail workspace. Check both sides before retrying an action, and ask an administrator to investigate a change that remains pending or fails.
