What the AI does, and what it cannot do

AI in Serat: a read-only analytics assistant, import column suggestions, product copy and imagery drafts, and marketing creatives. Every AI feature has explicit limits.

Updated aianalyticslimits

AI in Serat is deliberately narrow. Each feature does one job in one place, and none of them can change your data on their own. What follows is the complete list, including the limits, because the limits are the part that matters when you are deciding whether to trust it.

Ask Serat: questions about your own data

You can ask questions about your business in plain language and get an answer computed from your data. It is intended for the questions that would otherwise mean building a report: how a colourway sold by location, whether returns are concentrated in one size, how this month compares with the same month last year.

Two boundaries are enforced rather than advised:

  • Read-only. The assistant can query, aggregate and explain. It cannot create, edit or delete anything, so a badly worded question cannot damage your catalogue or stock.

  • Restricted access. The assistant is available to Admin and Developer roles where enabled, because a question-answering interface over business data needs appropriate permissions.

Import column suggestions

When you import a spreadsheet, the AI proposes which of your columns maps to which field. It is a suggestion engine for a tedious step, not an authority: every mapping is shown for confirmation before a single row is written.

Product content drafts

For channels that need copy and imagery, Serat can draft a product description, propose a hex value for a colourway name, and generate product or lifestyle imagery. Everything produced is a draft in your catalogue until a person accepts it. Nothing is published to a channel by the AI.

Marketing creatives

The same generation capability produces marketing assets in the formats the platforms expect: square posts, vertical stories and carousels. These are starting points for a human to edit, not finished campaigns.

What the AI is not

  • It does not set prices.

  • It does not reorder stock or create transfers.

  • It does not decide what to buy, because Serat has no purchasing module at all.

  • It does not act while you are away. Every AI feature runs when a person asks for it.

If a vendor tells you their AI runs your operation autonomously, ask them what happens when it is wrong. Our answer is that it cannot be wrong in a way that changes your data, because it cannot change your data.
